It is a national program with a budget of 12 million euro over 4 years. Sharing Cities Sweden is a part of Viable Cities - a strategic innovation program for smart and sustainable cities. Yuliya Voytenko Palgan learns from and communicates her research outputs through the Sharing Cities Alliance, which is a global network of municipalities seeking to exchange experiences with the sharing economy and learn from each other. The Sharing Cities Alliance offers its partners the tools, knowledge and network to capitalise on the opportunities and address the challenges of the digital decade. Together with the Sharing Cities Alliance, her colleagues at Lund University and the City of Malmö, Yuliya co-hosted Sharing Cities Summit 2019 in Lund and Malmö, Sweden.

Non-governmental organisation Collaborative Economy Gothenburg (KEG) seeks to make it easier to rent, share, borrow, give/receive instead of buying new. They advocate a fair distribution of resources that consumes less natural resources and encourages a higher level of trust between people. KEG has, among other things, developed the Smart Map of over 100 sharing and collaborative economy initiatives in Gothenburg. Yuliya Voytenko Palgan learns from KEG knowledge and experience, and expands the outreach of her findings through their large network. She also participated in a MapJam of sharing and collaborative economy initiatives in Malmö, which has led to the creation of the Smart Map Malmö.
